Have You Used the Mirena IUD?

A new woman joined our community yesterday, and for the first time, I was made aware of the possible connection between the Mirena IUD and breast cancer. Dang it!

True confession: I never understood or researched how IUDs work until today. My sense was that the use of an IUD "disrupted" reproduction in some way, but until today, I had no idea that hormone treatment was involved! I have first-hand knowledge about how BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement treatment) may be associated with a breast cancer diagnosis, but now that I know the IUD uses testosterone, I'm not surprised about the potential tie.

I just did some cursory research about the Mirena IUD. Interestingly, when searching "Mirena IUD, breast cancer," in addition to posts both pro and con about it, there are quite a few links to attorneys who seem to be litigating for women who believe the IUD may have caused their diagnosis.

Here are a few links to sources that discuss potential like between the IUD and breast cancer. Please do your own research from reputable sources to find out more.
