Meet Jan James

Jan James became an “accidental” breast cancer advocate. Newly diagnosed in 2012, she started a private Facebook group, Booby Buddies, to have a few friends answer her personal questions. Unexpectedly, women with breast cancer started to flood into the group. And she fell in love with them.

Over the years, Jan created three other private Facebook groups:

  • In the Sex After Breast Cancer group, women can safely discuss and find answers about the issues that affect their intimate lives after a  breast cancer diagnosis.
  • The Hope After Breast Cancer group provides a place for women who have endured breast cancer to encourage and empower one another to reclaim their lives.

Thousands of women have been served by those four growing groups.

Because of the financial devastation she saw through serving her pink sisters, Jan founded Provision Project in 2015, a non-profit organization that provides financial relief to women in active treatment for breast cancer. Hundreds of families nationwide are encouraged each year through Provision Project’s work.

Jan founded her dream project, Hope After Breast Cancer in 2020, where her goal is to help women strengthen their bodies, renew their minds, and heal their hearts after a breast cancer diagnosis. Hope After Breast Cancer helps women in a very unique way. Jan has assembled an incredible team of professional experts from many different disciplines who are dedicated to providing education and solutions to the women she serves.

The positive impact Jan provides is especially evident in her Sex After Breast Cancer private support group, where gynecologists, marriage/family therapists, pelvic floor therapists, sexuality counselors, and more educate women about how cancer treatment has impacted their bodies, then provide actionable information that can empower women to get the results they desire.

Jan's faith in Jesus is foundational in her life. She lives in the desert Southwest with her loving and supportive husband, Greg, who partners with her to serve the women of Hope After Breast Cancer through his work with video production and podcast management. Their adult son, Michael, is a wonderful young man who lives in Arkansas. They also have two fur babies, Kitty and Puppy (both cats).

One of the biggest joys of Jan's life is to hang out with her pink sisters all over the country. Scroll down to see pictures from a sampling of their meetups!
