Sex, Intimacy, Breast Cancer, and HOPE!

“Scientists estimate that between 45% and 77% of breast cancer survivors develop sexual problems after treatment, from low desire and poor lubrication to painful intercourse.”

That quote is from The Sexual Medicine Society of North America, and they are referencing a 2017 study that was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

The bottom line: No, sister. You are NOT alone.

Back in 2017, like many of you, I was suffering from all three of those common complaints in the breast cancer community. But my oncology team had absolutely zero advice for me. I knew from my other breast cancer support groups that I wasn’t the only one experiencing a dramatic change in my sex life. So I started the Sex After Breast Cancer private support group on Facebook. Women seemed to flock to the group. But just like many other support groups, the group was more about emotional support. None of the women in the group seemed to have found any answers to our issues either.

In 2020, I was finally ticked off enough about breast cancer stealing our intimate lives that I HAD to figure something new out for our women. I KNEW there MUST be answers. But where to find them?

I started with my brand-new gyny. She was also a Women’s Health Educator, so I asked her if she would do some videos with me. She agreed, and the adventure began!

The last two years have been about me attracting and recruiting Contributing Experts in various disciplines to educate use about potential solutions to heal our unseen wounds.
